Screen Northants Hub – Script-writing event

Screen Northants Hub @ NN Cafe on 28th July. Doors 7pm, starting 7.30pm. We want people with ideas, experienced screenwriters, producers or anyone interested in film that want to find new stories and people with script-writing expertise or skills to come together, network and share ideas. Open to all. NN Cafe is 9 Guildhall Road, NN1 1DP – we’re asking for a £1 donation from everyone to be given to NN for opening especially for us.

Channel 4 Random Acts ideas workshop – free!

Random Acts is looking for Midlands based young artists between the ages of 16-24 to develop their creative idea into a professional 2-3 minute short film. From dance to visual art, animation to spoken word, music to drama, film to video art, all ideas are welcome, no matter how ‘random’ they are! In fact, the randomer (made up word) the better. With support from the Rural Media Company and Maverick TV, you’ll receive professional mentorship and up to a £5K budget to produce your film. So what are you waiting for? Come to our free workshop at Screen Northants in the Grosvenor Centre Northampton on Wednesday 17th August 10am – 4pm to work through ideas, meet people and find out how to apply.

Screen Northants Hub August – 2 free workshops
Friday 19th August
Applying for Creative Roles 11am – 1pm
The two hour practical session provides a range of ideas on how to apply for roles in the creative sector including film, TV and photography. We look at cover letters and your individual CV approach. You will even have a chance to reflect on your current CV with workshop colleagues and the specialist speaker.

How to make an impact at interviews in the creative sector 2pm – 4pm
A hands on two hour session where we provide a range of hints and tips on how to really prepare well for standing out at interviews. We explore the importance of researching, preparing answers to questions and how to leave a positive impact.
Both workshops are aimed at people who are 16yrs+ or those that are serious about a career in Film. You can attend both or one. Sessions will be run by Northants-based Alec McPhedran, Creative Trainer for companies like Channel 4, Creative England, BFI and Creative Skillset.
