We’re recruiting!

Non-profit film company Screen Northants is seeking volunteers to undertake specific roles in the organisation working under the Directors and our existing pool of volunteers. We welcome applications from people with all sorts of different backgrounds, life experiences, ages, etc.

Social Media and Marketing – we are looking for people who can commit the equivalent of at least a day a week to work with the Directors to devise strategies for our social media and marketing of our films, events and services, and manage the social media accounts. We’re looking for someone who is excited about coming with multi-pronged, ambitious long term strategies for both the organisation and the films we’re producing. It may be that you want to specialise in a certain area such as graphic design or video production within this role and it may be that you work as part of a team of volunteers. We have a number of different audiences to reach and a lot of exciting content at our disposal, and need someone who can make the most of that.

Film Production Management – we are looking for trainees interested in Production Management and Producing to assist on our numerous productions across the year. We are looking for people who are serious about a career in Film, with amazing organisational skills who are happy to get on the phone and have good interpersonal skills. We are looking for people who will stay with us for at least a year on a part-time basis of either a minimum of a day a week or for a number of more full time periods when productions come in. This is to make sure you know enough about the organisation to be able to have some independence in your work and learn the most you can. We want to develop PMs which we can employ on future work and send into the industry knowing they know their stuff.

Film Workshop Assistants – if you are interested in Film and/or the Creative Industries and also want to work with young people this may be for you. We are looking for assistants in our BBC Children in Need workshops working with disadvantaged local young people as well as in our open community sessions. You do not need to have worked with young people before and you don’t have to have any film skills. Your role is to supervise the young people and ensure their safety and wellbeing. And of course you will learn all about film production and get a chance to be on our various film sets. You will be required to do a DBS check and we will take up references. We will hold meetings at least twice a week from October for up to 3 hours – we’d like you to be able to do one per week. These are all after school. This role can be combined with others.

Editors and filmmakers – we are looking for people to assist with various short form projects on a regular basis (and of course would like to expand our database of people for our feature length projects too) from editing behind-the-scene films to operating cameras. We have editing opportunities on a weekly basis so would suit someone who could do a day a week or just odd blocks here and there when projects arise. There will be a mix of drama, doc and corporate stuff.

Business Development and Fundraising – we are looking for people who can assist with growing our business and fundraising (researching charities, grants and corporate social responsibility funds, assisting with grant applications or sponsorship proposals, etc). This could be for a short intensive period of time or a more regular volunteering opportunity. We are open to people raising money to be able to pay themselves to undertake fundraising for us.

If you would like to volunteer with us but have a different idea of what you’d like to do which would be of benefit to us and you (Admin, HR, Front of House assistance in our office, etc) please get in touch.

Our volunteering takes place at our office in Northampton. However, for the right person, working from home is also an option. Please note we do not have computers for volunteers so volunteers need access to a computer for anything relevant such as the social media role.

Please send a covering letter to becky@screennorthants.co.uk
